RE: [kent-grads] Any university's collegiate system fading?

Interesting comments made by everyone. I was attached to Eliot 98-01 but lived in Parkwood. I had friends in all colleges and we all tended to go to whichever bar we were in the mood for. I did, however, meet my now husband in Eliot but this was mainly due to the computer network not because of the college system. Although I was attached to Eliot I had virtually all my lectures out of Rutherford, so never really had a tie to any particular college. The colleges never really had any inter college competitions though did they? Or was I just not aware of them?!

The comments about the twin fortresses are so true! It brought back so
many memories of my husband and I rushing to seminars, he assuring me he
knew Elliot and Rutherford like the back of his hand but always getting
lost anyway. I'm embarrassed to say I was hauled into my tutors office
for not showing up to the first two seminars of a particular course in
Elliot - my excuse........I couldn't find the room! Pathetic really.

Then there were the twin fortresses - Festung Rutherford and
Stalag Luft
Eliot - while I had friends from those colleges they tended to
be escapees.
We found the atmosphere very different especially at Eliot -
almost a
distrust of outsiders which I suppose spoke volumes about the
strength of
bonds within. Non-fortress people tended to dislike going inside
- we were
never quite sure we could find our way out again

Oh I so agree with you, Greg! Having to go to either of them
for a seminar was fraught with danger - we always got lost and would we
ever get out??? Sometimes we even formed chains!
