As far as I'm aware, email digests and notifications of new postings are available once signed in.

Best wishes

How about those who *do* prefer e-mails?

Well, mine may not be the sort of opinion you're hoping for - but as far as I'm concerned, the idea of logging on to a WWW site just to see whether there have been any new posts is a non-starter.

If you can set up an e-mail or news interface to the forums, or even an RSS feed, then that's a different matter - but my preference is that once I've been through any subscription process, messages come to me, I don't go to look for them.

So, how I'd like the forums to develop, in order of preference :-

1) Set up an NNTP or e-mail interface(*)
2) Set up an RSS feed
3) Abandon the idea, and stick with a mailing list

(*) Yes, it can be done. Examples of sites doing this on request.
I don't know what software they're using to run the forum interface, though.

I'll agree with that last sentence!
