Well, with assistance from Miles, I found the part of the website
that allows you to set up e-mail digests. It *isn't* in your
profile section, which is where I would have expected to find it,
but if anyone else wants to stick with e-mail look at 

http://www.kent.ac.uk/alumni/forums/digests.php

but be warned that you MUST be logged in to do it - I was told
that I'd get a strange error if I tried it without being logged
in, and Miles wasn't joking!.
